an Inter-Action production at The Green Banana Restaurant, Soho, London

Peter Pan. 1983/84/85
The first production of this play to use a male actor in the role of Peter.
This production was also notable for it's text which was an amalgamation of different versions of the original play text; The book; The silent film version (which was to have starred Charles Chaplin) and the extensive use of Barrie's stage directions which necessitated the creation of the new role of 'Storyteller' which I was lucky enough to be asked to play.
The production was a huge success and played for three successive Christmas Seasons.
1983 cast featured; Miles Anderson as Peter; Joss Ackland as Capt' Hook; Jane Carr as Wendy and Sheila Hancock as Mrs. Darling.
1984 cast; myself as Capt' Hook/Mr. Darling; Mark Rylance as Peter;   Katy Behean as Wendy; Frances Tomelty as Mrs. Darling & Edward Petherbridge as The Storyteller.
1985 cast; I played Hook/Darling again; John McAndrew played Peter & Brian Murphy was The Storyteller.
This was the last of the three productions at The Barbican Theatre for the R.S.C. but it was later revived at The Royal National Theatre with Sir Ian McKellen as Hook and Alec McCowen as the Storyteller. Sadly Alec took ill during this run and I was asked to take over my old role,
but it was at too short notice for me to learn the part again and do the new production justice
so I had to forego this unique opportunity.
